M.J. Beasi, Voice Teacher

M.J. Beasi offers private voice lessons for students of all ages. With a rich background in musical theater and classical singing, extending out to rock, pop, and jazz, M.J. is ready to listen and to help you achieve your individual goals in singing. Specialties include teen voices, transmasc voices at all stages, musicality, interpretation, and storytelling through song.

Melinda (M.J.) Beasi studied vocal performance at Carnegie-Mellon University in the studio of Dr. Lee Cass, later touring as Sophie in the First National Tour of Terrence McNally’s Master Class starring Faye Dunaway and as Kathy in The Night Kitchen’s Really Rosie, designed and directed by author Maurice Sendak. Other credits include Sweeney Todd at Paper Mill Playhouse, Strike Up the Band at the Goodspeed Opera House, The Pirates of Penzance at Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, The Fifth Season at the Olney Theatre Center, and One Touch of Venus with City Center Encores!, among many others.

As founder of Act Too Studio Opera Workshop for teens, M.J. has directed Polly Penn’s Goblin Market, Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium, Il Sogno d’Arianna, an English-language narrative adapted from the madrigals of Claudio Monteverdi, an expanded adaptation of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and queer adaptations of Handel’s Rinaldo and Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte.
